Radius wins 2008 Red Dot Award
09/29/2008
The Radius Chicago design team was recognized with a 2008 Red Dot Concept Award for their industrial vehicle safety lighting system, SafeBright. The competition is one of the largest, with more than 10,000 submissions from 60 countries, and is an international recognition of design excellence.
Safe Bright was the result of an on-going probe into improving the highway experience for drivers of both cars and industrial vehicles. During Chicago area motorist interviews, sharing the road and interacting with tractor-trailers was identified as an area of concern, and an opportunity to make for a better shared driving experience. The concept addresses this issue by providing increased visual signaling and integrated motion sensing that detects changes in lateral (lane changing) movement and speed (braking), then activates the appropriate signal (improving communication to other vehicles.) via a retrofitted motion sensing pod.
This award is just a highlight of the progressive work continually produced by the Radius design teams.
