Radius Product Development hosts The QC Group at the Nypro Institute

05/18/2009

On May 7, 2009, Radius hosted David DeVowe of The QC Group (Burnsville, MN) at the Nypro Institute in Clinton, Massachusetts.

Mr. DeVowe presented a seminar on “Micro to Macro Laser Scanning Technologies for Manufacturers” to a group of New England design and manufacturing companies.

We noted the use of laser scanning to show warp, sink and other defects in molded parts and the ability to color-code and display the difference between the 3D CAD model and the actual physical part.

The relative low cost and speed of The QC Group scanning services allows Radius engineers to readily and graphically verify the accuracy and precision of their medical device and consumer product designs against the first parts out of the injection molding process. With this timely information, Radius quickly adjustments the part geometry and molding process to ensure the production of “in spec” products, foregoing the often time consuming effort of “tweaking” the tool by incremental steps.
