Awards

A panel of distinguished professionals will choose a winner in each of the following awards:

  • Best Overall
  • Best Aesthetics Award
  • Best Performance Award
  • Greenest Award: Judges will weigh criteria such as materials selection, design for disassembly, etc.  Be creative and create a low-impact sled!

Rules and guidelines:

  • The sled must be made of at least 90% recycled, reclaimed, or 2nd-hand objects and materials.
  • The other 10% is open to allow for hardware (nuts, bolts, paint, etc).
  • The sled should be made of at least two different materials.
  • The sled must carry two people down the hill.
  • There is no limit to the number of members on a team.  A team can be made up of members from more than one firm or company.
  • Gravity-powered solutions only.
  • Helmet required.
  • No standing on sleds.
  • No thin films / materials that can be pierced by objects on the ground.  Protect your riders.
  • Try to avoid using this as an excuse to get new ski gear - i.e. don't sacrifice the skis you use now (that's not very green...).  Get creative with your material sources!
