A new technology platform

A new technology platform to detect and map temperature variations inside coronary arteries.

IntraCoronary Temperature (ICT) Catheter System

Annually, approximately 5 million cardiac catheterization procedures are carried out world-wide. Radius was asked to develop a cardiovascular diagnostic system centered around a miniaturized, catheter technology able to detect and map small temperature variations inside the coronary arteries. These temperature variations are believed to be caused by vulnerable plaque – one of the major causes of sudden heart attack.

The IntraCoronary Temperature (ICT) Catheter System provides a thermal imaging map of the interior of the coronary arteries utilizing temperature sensor technology that enables the investigation of previously undetectable regions within the heart. Mapping of these temperature discrepancies help identify and localize the plaque that can lead to heart attack.

Radius developed the mechanical components and overall use and interaction system based on the ICT technology. Concepts and configurations where tested and refined with a global team of clintical stakeholders to ensure Ergonomic and functional insights were refined to address physical efficacy, and sterilization requirements. All while leveraging rigorous QMS design controls and processes required to get the product to clinical trials.
